Dr. Philipp E. Boksberger, former CEO and president of the Zurich Institute of Business Education (CEIBS Zurich Campus), has broad professional experience not only in the international education market but also in the tourism, hospitality, and service industries in Switzerland, Spain, and Australia, as a consultant, professor, and manager. In addition, he has a proven track record of consulting projects, research projects, and scientific publications.
His outstanding management skills are evidenced by successful business development for the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and the former Lorange Institute of Business Zurich. Projects focused on the individual and corporate education markets and their turn-around execution and sustainable growth, for which he was in charge of finance, marketing, relationship management with key clients, product/program development, faculty coordination, and staff training and supervision. Furthermore, he developed the School of Tourism at HTW Chur, which was to become the biggest research facility in the field in Switzerland, with an international reputation not only for its research and consulting work but also for its degree programs and continuing education offer.
Dr. Boksberger’s substantial industry experience is based on knowledge and understanding gained as a consultant, instructor, and trainer with private companies, associations, non-profit organizations, as well as regional and local corporate bodies in Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Australia, and China. He has profound expertise in the tourism, hospitality and service industries, as well as management and leadership experience in the education/corporate training market.
He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and master’s degree in tourism management from the University of St. Gallen. After gaining international work experience, he received a grant from the federal government of Switzerland to continue his studies at the University of Queensland in Australia where he finished his PhD in consumer behavior (awarded by the University of St. Gallen in 2006).
Dr. Boksberger is from Switzerland and speaks German, English, French, and Spanish, and has basic Italian and Chinese.
